TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE UPDATES

Portland Bureau of Environmental Services is constructing a viewing platform along the Springwater Trail adjacent to Oaks Bottom. There will be temporary delays and one-way closures during the construction period. More information is at: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/article/753041

Several Neighborhood Greenways in Portland have been partially blocked and signed for “Local Traffic Only” to provide safer space for non-motorized uses during the Coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the Portland Bureau of Transportation has set up a permitting process to allow local businesses to occupy portions of streets to allow for outside seating, etc.. Information about the various aspects of the Safe Streets program are at:

Also, there is a map of where the Greenway partial barriers and signs are located and where businesses have applied for Safe Streets permits at the link below (so far I only see one business in SMILE has a permit):

If you’re thinking of getting back on a Trimet bus or Max train as things start to re-open, please take a look at their new procedures for payment, social distancing, and face coverings.
